Through the power of art, I provide a unique therapeutic experience that allows you to express, understand, and overcome emotional hurdles in a safe, nurturing environment.
Art Therapy sessions offer a profound journey into self-exploration and healing. My approach combines therapeutic techniques with the freedom and joy of artistic expression, creating a space where words and artistic skill are not necessary to communicate your inner world. Supported by a professional art therapist, each session is a step towards self-discovery and emotional well-being.Setting the Foundation
Start your healing journey with an intake and consent form, essential for a safe, confidential space. This helps me understand your goals and expectations. Your information will be stored securely.
During our initial consult, we'll focus on building trust and establishing a strong, therapeutic relationship.
Art Therapy Sessions
Our sessions together will be client led, allowing you to steer the direction of each session. I'm here to provide a more directive approach should you feel stuck.
In general, however, you maintain control over the flow and focus of each session, ensuring it aligns with your needs and goals.
The Healing Process
Art therapy focuses on the present moment. Whatever is alive for you here and now is what we work with.
It is best to approach each session with an open mind, as surprising or even unwelcome insights may emerge, though it's fine if they don't.
Your thoughts and emotions often continue to evolve even after a session ends.
Location
Location
A Healing Haven
Nestled in the serene farmland of Mt Duneed on the Surf Coast of Victoria, my art therapy practice offers a uniquely healing environment.
Surrounded by the natural beauty and tranquility of the countryside, this setting provides a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The sprawling farmland, with its open skies and gentle landscapes, invites a sense of calm and connectedness to nature. This connection is known to foster relaxation and reduce stress, making it an ideal backdrop for therapeutic art-making.
The quiet and private setting allows for uninterrupted self-exploration and creativity, while the natural surroundings inspire artistic expression. This harmonious blend of art therapy in a pastoral environment offers a holistic approach to healing, catering to both the emotional and environmental needs of clients. At Safe Space, women can find peace, rejuvenation, and a deeper connection with themselves.
FAQs
FAQs
Navigating Art Therapy
What is Art Therapy?
Art therapy is a form of therapy that uses creative art-making to help individuals explore emotions, resolve psychological conflicts, manage behaviour, reduce stress, and improve self-esteem and awareness.
Who can benefit from art therapy?
I offer art therapy sessions for women aged 18 years and over only. However, people of all ages, from children to the elderly, can benefit from art therapy.
It's particularly helpful for those dealing with emotional and psychological challenges, including stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and chronic illnesses.
Do I need to be good at art?
No, artistic skill or experience is not required. Art therapy focuses on the process of creation and self-expression rather than the final product.
What happens in an art therapy session?
As a trained art therapist, I support individuals through art-making processes using various mediums, such as painting, drawing, sculpting, collage, movement, drama, gesture, and sand play to explore and express feelings and thoughts.
Can art therapy be used alongside other therapies?
Yes, art therapy can be integrated with other therapeutic approaches and is often part of a broader treatment plan that may include talk therapy, medication, or other interventions.
Is art therapy confidential?
Yes, like all forms of therapy, art therapy is confidential. Art Therapists are bound by ethical codes to maintain the privacy of their clients.
How do I find a qualified Art Therapist?

At Safe Space I provide a safe and supportive environment for women 18+ living with disabilities, to explore their thoughts and feelings.
Through experimenting with different art materials and creative expression, participants are able to better understand their feelings, become more self-aware and reduce anxiety. I endeavour to help participants feel comfortable and confident to either explore their current interests or to take risks in experimenting with something new.
